I've been trying to get into the process of songwriting for the last 20 some years or even longer, and I've just really struggled with it and not been able to make much headway.

So a couple of years ago, beginning of I think it was 21, 2021, I really decided I'm just going to try it no matter what.

When I am writing a song, I might have an idea for the song already.

I might sit down with my guitar and come up with some riffs or some, something or a hook or something that might be good for a song, or you might just brainstorm and record a bunch of different song ideas that might turn into something.

And then you can go back and you can try to find some words that might fit it.

Or what I might do is I might listen to the riff or whatever and think, Oh, that gives me an idea for what the song might be about.

So if it's a sad topic, then I might play something slow and sad.

Or if it's a happy topic, I might play something more upbeat.

Or maybe you could wake up from a dream or something and have a snatch of rhyme or something.

And so you write that down and you can build a song around that too.

So there's a lot of different ways to construct a song.
